VILNIUS

Because of its geographical situation, Lithuania has always been on the cross-roads of Europe... Was it a medieval crusade, a prosperous trade route, a war or a new cultural trend, it has always had to pass through this country. Some of that remained, making Lithuania to become a unique mosaic of all cultures of Europe.

This is reflected best by Vilnius, the capital city of Lithuania. A colourful mixture of Gothic, Baroque, Renaissance and Rococo constitute a unique blend of Vilnius. It is most famous for the old town that is the biggest one in Eastern Europe. The old part of Vilnius was included into the List of World Cultural Heritage’ Sites by UNESCO in 1996.

With its population of more than 650 thousand people and history dating back to the beginning of 14th century, Vilnius is not only an administrative but also a cultural centre of Lithuania. It is venue for many national and international events, such as "LIFE" International Theatres’ Festival, "Vilnius’ International Pop Song Festival", "Vilnius Jazz" International Jazz Festival that make the face of contemporary Lithuanian culture.

Among those international events proudly stands "In VOGUE Vilnius" International Fashion Festival held annually by Lithuanian Association of Fashion Creators. Every year it attracts more and more famous designers and world-wide fashion houses to participate, as well as journalists to cover it for local and international media.

Taking place at the National Opera and Ballet Theatre - an acknowledged masterpiece of modern Lithuanian architecture - "In VOGUE" International Fashion Festival makes Vilnius city an international capital of haute couture and pret-a-porter once in a year.
